"The vintage architectural and industrial landscape in our community is special and worth preserving. I find harmony and dissonance therein. My photos, poetic jazz-like abstractions, try to capture the beauty of what may soon be gone."

Robert Schulman is a self trained film only photographer with a striking sense of composition. His panoramic photographs capture Buffalo's industrial and architectural landscape and it's details and transforms them into dramatic and poetic abstractions.

“Robert Schulman is an award-winning photographer with a striking sense of composition. His panoramic images are transformed into dramatic poetic abstractions.” He is presenting a new body of photographic collages and images that are richly enchanting and atmospheric. Film is his primary photographic medium, though digital, cell phone and film images are intermixed in this new collection. “Our communities, living spaces, and environment are changing. It’s easy to see what has evolved for better and worse. I try to capture the lasting beauty of what may soon be gone.” This weathered city does, however, have “Signs of Life.

Schulman is a member of the Buffalo’s Society of Artists and Western New York Artists Group. He has exhibited at numerous galleries including: CEPA, Artpark, Albright Knox Members Gallery, Big Orbit, Studio Hart, redfish Art Studios and the Castellani Art Museum.
